Chile and Argentina: A Blending of Wine with Multisport

Chile and Argentina are well known for their excellent wine varietals. Chile produces their Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Viognier in a temperate Mediterranean climate within thirteen valleys, including Maipo, Cachapoal, Colchagua and Maule.  Argentina’s Mendoza, San Juan and La Rioja regions exploit the higher altitudes and cooler temperatures to produce the grapes for their Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernets, with the Mendoza region being the only region to produce Argentina’s signature Malbec wine successfully.

There are plenty of wineries to keep wine connoisseurs sipping their way through both countries for weeks, but a blending of winery visits with outdoor activities would enhance the itinerary, especially since these regions are at the foothills of the mighty Andes.  Both Chile and Argentina embody a sense of adventure and have a variety of terrain to keep the most active entertained and challenged.

Tour operators like Zephyr Adventures, Santiago Adventures, Say Hueque, Zicasso and H2O Patagonia can set you up with a trip that combines the pleasure of wine tasting with the thrill of biking, hiking and rafting in these two picturesque countries.
